Monday Brief: Tueday the First Edition
Highlight of the week: Hosting the Jesuit, Mercy and Capuchin Volunteer Corps (and friends) at our house on Friday night. We had a fantastic time with nearly 100% attendance from the three houses and will definitely host them again later on this fall. To reiterate last week's words, they are all incredible and it is an honor to have them as friends.
Book(s) I’m reading: So I said it got out of control last week, did I? Well I meant that it was about to get out of control this week, as the stacks that I am currently reading continued to grow. I did make it through Wright's Lord and His Prayer, and I managed to add Hartgrove's Becoming the Answer to Our Prayers. Otherwise, everything remains as it was last Monday.
Music I’m digging: The Black Keys made it into the rotation this week, along with the usual overdose of Anberlin and Emery. Oh, and I need to listen to some more JT so that I have a better understanding of the guy who looks like me (seriously, the number of students calling me Mr. Timberlake this year is increasing dramatically each day).
Something(s) that blew my mind: The number of students and coworkers who see me on my bike each day is rather impressive. Multiple students have asked me why I bike, and rather than tell the whole car-theft story, I bring up the health, cost and environmental benefits to biking. Several of them have expressed a wish to be able to bike to school.
Ministry update: Approximately seventy percent of my desired coffee dates came to fruition this past week, and all of the discussions were extreme fruitful. Not a lot to share in specific just yet, but we're working on scheduling a weekly Compline service using a local parish here in Detroit among many, many other things.
Looking forward to: getting the paperwork back for the non-profit garden so that we can get started with construction on boxes, etc. Here's hoping it all pans out.
