Monday Brief: Football and Books Edition
Highlight of the week: Attending the U of M/Indiana game in Ann Arbor with Jason was an absolute blast. It was one of his last events as a resident of Michigan before moving on to Evanston, Illinois for work. The highlight-reel ending to the game made my weekend, especially considering that it was my first game after a two-year moratorium following the disastrous last appearance.
Book(s) I’m reading: I managed to complete Newbigin's Proper Confidence this week and wrote a short thought about it on Goodreads (I usually do). It was a good, helpful discussion in a short volume. Starving Jesus was a dud of a volume I flipped through (it doesn't even get a link through, that is how poorly I responded to it) and I have started a few volumes this week including Don Miller (I thoroughly enjoy the prose), Simon Chan and Leann Payne.
Music I’m digging: As much as I don't like it, I have become more and more of a pop-singles princess, er...I can't come up with a good use of alliteration that isn't extremely feminine. Lately that Jordin Sparks single has been suck in my head (and in my iTunes).
Something that blew my mind: Cycling into the wind is a chore, especially when the wind falls into the "wind gusts exceeding 30 mph" category. So goes the last two rides I have had to work and back.*
Ministry update: An announcement at church on Sunday led to multiple volunteers to host Alpha at their homes this fall. One more meeting this coming weekend and we should be able to "put it on the board...yes!" like Mr. Blummer's home team baseball announcers like to say.**
Looking forward to: the cool nights of fall. I am looking forward to many glasses of Scotch, pipes of tobacco, and lengthy discussions on our front porch here in Corktown. One of the many, many reasons I love this state.

*And this remark fit the category I listed it in a lot better than I originally realized.
** That, and "why won't Ozzie shut up," I would assume.
