Monday Brief - Complete with a Sermon Link

Yesterday's Sermon

Highlight of the week: Spending the weekend with my parents in Detroit. Their almost-last-minute visit to hear me preach on Sunday was incredible, especially getting to share Slows BBQ with Mom, my brother, my sister/brother-in-law and the kids (Dad will have to come back soon to check it out). It was a joy to be preaching and look out and see half my family sitting there listening, especially since this was the first real time I've been asked to preach quite like this (sharing my vision on a Sunday morning in Flint was also incredible, but not quite as sermon-like).

Book(s) I’m reading: The list has grown and changed a lot since the last Monday Brief. I'm actively reading Pollan's In Defense of Food while the rest sit and collect a little dust and wait patiently for me to pick them back up.

Music I’m digging: I'm anxiously awaiting the new Switchfoot album after seeing their trailer on Youtube. I've also been listening to Kelly Clarkson a bit since Megan had such an incredible experience at her concert last night.

Something that blew my mind: When someone at church yesterday told Sharon that she must be proud of her brother. We both assumed that I was the brother being discussed. Sorry Steve, Noah, Daniel, et al.

Ministry update: Coffee Fun Time Magic Nights are about to begin on Thursdays at our house. A chill time for coffee, tea, discussion, hanging out, talking theology or humor, and creativity. Please consider joining us; details on time, etc. will follow for those who are interested.

Looking forward to: ADRIENNE IS COMING!!!!!! Yes, that's right, one of my besties, Adrienne, is coming to visit us for a long weekend. She'll be here on Thursday! Plans include...oh, I don't know. It will be epic for sure, and photos will appear on the internet at some point.
