About Dean

Name: Dean P. Simmer
Birthplace: Midland, Michigan // Hometown: Traverse City, MI // Current City: Detroit
Brief Bio: Dean is a lifelong Michigander and a new resident of Detroit. Along with his wife, he has founded New Way Corktown, a neighborhood based Christian community in the heart of Detroit. Since 2007, he has handled all of the technology needs for Detroit Cristo Rey High School in Southwest Detroit and has previously worked in youth ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan.
Raised in beautiful Northern Michigan, Dean spent four years just north of the Ohio border in tiny Hillsdale where he met his future bride, Giles, of now nearly three years. He is in the process of discernment with the Anglican Mission in the Americas and is planning to enroll in seminary in the fall of 2010.
In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus repeatedly calls his disciples to a life of self-sacrifice in order to follow Him. Dean seeks to respond to this call while advocating for mercy, justice and righteousness for all.
