Name: Dean P. Simmer
Birthplace: Midland, Michigan // Hometown: Traverse City, MI // Current City: Detroit
Brief Bio: Dean is a Detroiter and native Michigander. Along with his wife, he has laid the foundations for New Way Corktown, a neighborhood based Christian community in the heart of Detroit. He has served on staff at Detroit Cristo Rey High School in Southwest Detroit since 2007, currently working as the Academic Assistant Principal and a faculty member. Prior to working at the high school, Dean worked in youth ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan.
Raised in beautiful Northern Michigan, Dean spent four years just north of the Ohio border in tiny Hillsdale where he met his future bride, Giles, of now over three years. He is in the process of discernment with the Anglican Mission in the Americas and is planning to enroll in seminary full time in the next year. He is a Benedictine postulant in the Company of Jesus, a third-order Benedictine and Franciscan monastic community.
