Monday Morning Thoughts
Submitted by dsimmer on Mon, 03/03/2008 - 14:06You know you're a social networking geek when you try to Digg-down a post on a Facebook discussion board. You laugh, but I tried last night. No surprise, it didn't work.
MeLCat is one of the most underused tools in the post-collegiate era. Which is why I have been throwing a full-blown blitzkrieg at the Novi Public Library with all of my hold requests. I'm currently going through N.T. Wright's entire library as well as grabbing the Thomas Tallis music I can find. Remember, this is all free and available through many libraries in the state of Michigan (there is a list here).
Several shifts this week at Sbux, then a short week next week to get ready for the Pittsburgh trip. More details to follow on that I'm sure.
Why Don't You Write?
Submitted by dsimmer on Tue, 05/15/2007 - 03:01Over the past few years, I've created, used, and neglected several dozen accounts across the Wide World of Internets. Lately I have been on a binge to remove these unused accounts, or if it is warranted, begin using the account again. Which has led me to my current realization.
Many social websites fail because they FAIL TO RESPOND TO YOUR COMMENTS. During my said binge, I have contacted dozens of sites, asking for assistance in either upgrading or deleting my account. Many have been happy to oblige. Some have responded to requests to delete my account with lengthy explanations about why their system will not allow them to do that. Either way, I have appreciated the response. Except for the sites listed below. They are on, and will remain on, my Black List until they respond to my repeated requests for assistance. If you work for or with one of these sites, please get someone to contact me.
